Bratton Castle, Nr Westbury, Wiltshire. Formed 25th July.
This formation was a carefully planned hoax, with only one intention to undermine Colin Andrews and Pat Delgado's Operation Blackbird. This experiment was set-up to finally capture the phenomenon on film, and was orchestrated on Bratton Camp, which is an Ancient Hill Fort just outside of the town of Westbury. It was sponsored by the BBC TV, and Nippon TV in Japan, with over รบ1 million pounds worth of monitoring equipment and cameras. On the 25th of July Colin and Pat thought Blackbird had captured the circlemakers noctural work, as a formation appeared right in front of the Cameras. Sadly it was quickly established that the circles and rings were nothing more than a carefully constructed hoax, with board games placed in each circle. The embarrassment was obviously quite damaging to the phenomenon itself, but the experiment did actually capture a formation in construction apparently without any human involvement, but it was to far away for the cameras to detect anything concrete.
